In 2019, Rihanna made history becoming the first Black woman to lead the French luxury fashion house, LVMH. The partnership saw the pop singer design and create a fashion line; however sadly two years later, the collaboration seems to have suffered due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The news broke on Wednesday after a joint statement was released to Women’s Wear Daily (WWD). The pair said, ‘Rihanna and LVMH have jointly made the decision to put on hold the RTW activity, based in Europe, pending better conditions.”

It’s not all doom and gloom though. The focus is shifting towards Bad Gal RiRi’s make up and lingerie brands instead. Fenty Beauty has made the headlines for all the right reasons since its release, being one of the few beauty brands to produce inclusive skin shades and long-lasting make up. Savage x Fenty has followed suit with the good press, with people of all sizes modelling the lingerie. The brand has often threatened the reputation of the Victoria’s Secret Show which typically sent models of a similar body shape down the catwalk.

The WWD statement continues, “LVMH and Rihanna reaffirm their ambition to concentrate on the growth and the long-term development of Fenty ecosystem focusing on cosmetics, skincare and lingerie”. We’re not surprised the shift is refocusing on to her two most popular brands, after all, we’re mostly spending our money on skincare and clothing.
