Blup50 member, DJ and presenter Becca Dudley is one of reggae and dancehall’s most enthusiastic advocates. So much so she created a platform to shine a light on the genres she loves.
A DJ and presenter for MTV and BEATS 1, Becca has long been an advocate for reggae and dancehall culture. Now, with her YouTube channel DEADLY, she has created an online presence for reggae and dancehall culture in all its forms, producing a regular stream of live performance, music videos and interviews with the giants of the genre. With performances from the likes of Koffee, Protoje, Chronixx and many more, DEADLY turned into the go to platform for discovering new and more established Jamaican artists.
Working with her partner director and photographer Charlie Sarsfield, who has shot music videos for Stormzy, Zara Larsson and more, the duo shoots the most beautiful videos across all of Jamaica. They work closely with the artists to capture the spirit of the culture perfectly and authentically.
When asked about future plans for the platform Becca replies, ‘I see DEADLY as so much more than just a video platform – it’s a lifestyle brand, it’s events, its fashion, and studios, it’s films, it’s travel. Theres so much we want to do and so many places we want to take it, but we want to grow from the ground up and take it step by step. I feel like we’re not in a race, we’re not trying to win, we’re just doing what we love, and trying to get more people to feel the same about our biggest passions.’
