Dyson will soon introduce a somewhat unusual, yet intriguing product to market – a wearable air purifier with noise-cancelling headphones built in, designed to avoid city air and noise pollution so you can enjoy your favourite tunes whilst on the move.

The Dyson Zone comes with a detachable visor so streams of purified air flood to the wearer’s nose and mouth when attached.

This comes from Dyson’s apparent internal conversations in 2016 on developing “purification on the move” technology, based on its existing air purification technology. Today, the two-stage purification system is “capable of filtering city fumes and pollutants” within the hustle and bustle of the city.

The ‘Dyson Zone’ combines noise-cancelling, over-ear headphones with a visor which sits just in front of the nose and mouth. The visor helps to channel “a continuous stream of purified air to your nose and mouth, without touching your face” which prevents stuffiness according to Dyson.

We are yet to know how much the Zone headphones will be worth, neither do we know the battery life or how much the headset will weigh however Dyson says more information will be forthcoming nearer to launch.

It is only then we will be able to delve more into this interesting product and its specifics, such as a separate attachment that will enable people to convert the headphones into a sealed, full-contact mask.
