This month has been memorable for singer Burna Boy- his album Twice As Tall won best album at the 2021 Grammys. He’s also just released the visuals for new song “23”, which alludes to Michael Jordan’s iconic jersey number.

Directed by Clarence Peters and produced by Skread, the video begins with the singer lying on a bed reflecting. Although the video celebrates unsung global achievers, such as athletes, music producers and dancers, Burna Boy makes clear but subtle statement that women are the ones he’s celebrating by including only female protagonists. To reinforce this further, he’s released the video during Women’s Month.

The 4 minute visuals promotes the idea that everything is achievable if you want it to be and echoes his Grammy’s statement: “All just comes, like someone is standing there and telling me what to say. It’s all according to the spirits, some of us are put on this earth to do what we do.”
