September: that time of year where Apple’s anticipated release of the new iPhone sparks rumours from facial recognition to an edge-to-edge screen. Marking 10 years since the first release of their smartphone, now word on the street is that the new iPhone 8 will have wireless charging, giving a glimpse of the new future world. Users will supposedly charge their device by placing it on a charging surface rather than plugging it in.

Of course, there is no official comments from Apple as they maintain the awaited release, however Robert Hwang, CEO of Wistron- one of the companies putting together the next iPhone- has confirmed ‘new features like waterproof and wireless charging’. Leaked images of the wireless charger have also appeared on Chinese social media platform, Weibo. Apparently the money-makers will sell the wireless charger separately to the device as you spending a hefty amount on the iPhone alone is not quite enough for them. Don’t fret if you have recently bought the iPhone 7s or 7s Plus as wireless charging is rumoured to be available to you too.
