// WHAT HAVE YOU SEEN ONLINE/INSTAGRAM/TIKTOK /TWITTER THAT HAS STOPPED YOU SCROLLING?

Oghalé (@oghalealex), I literally have no words, his work is absolutely stunning, his entire feed is a modern love story – beautiful.

// GIVE US A WHISTLE STOP TOUR OF YOUR CAREER TO DATE

Graduated from a Fashion Design and Marketing degree, which was probably the most challenging yet rewarding process I have been through (shout out to all my UEL crew). Spent a few years as a fashion designer whilst juggling a start-up magazine called BeExposed (RIP, to the love of my life). BeExposed was where I cut my teeth in art direction, we shot many editorials and advertorials and worked with many talented creatives within our 10 issues of existence. From that experience I realised this was my calling in life – to create beautiful shoots and collaborate with amazing talent.

After we closed the mag I spent many years leading teams of digital creatives for a number of companies. Spent a couple of years freelancing as an Art Director for agencies and brands. I now work for the Boohoo empire as a Lead Creative working for a selection of their brands, with a few sideline clients to keep me out of trouble.

//WHAT DOES 24 HOURS IN YOUR LIFE LOOK LIKE?

I feel routine is the cornerstone for success, so I try and keep (within reason) my morning routine tight.

6am wake up, read for 45 mins (I’m trying to smash 1 book per month)

7am get sweaty with a ‘Body by Ciara’ home workout

8am shower

8:45am make a looong oat milk latte and a protein shake and get to my desk

9-10am, check emails, get my team set up for the day, jumping on Zoom for any morning calls. Then I will blast through any new photographer portfolios and new shoots I should have my eye on and trawl through model packs to snoop out the best talent for us to work with.

10-1:30pm is spent doing deep research, concepting ideas for shoots, building treatments and moodboards, ideating and playing.

1:30-2pm, try and get some Vit D! Power walk through my local fields with my second coffee of the day before I’m back at home making lunch.

2:30-5:30pm, more and more Zoom meetings and shoot prep before I call it a day.

In the evenings you could find me in the kitchen, cooking up a dish (it relaxes me) or catching up on Instagram, as much as I hate how much social media consumes us, it is SO important for me as an Art Director to keep on top of creative trends, new talent and generally keeping my eyes inspired (you do not want to see how many insta folders I have and how many millions of images are within them!)

9:30pm, get into bed read for a bit or binge watch Netflix before snoozing off around 11pm.

Disclaimer: Pre Covid my life was waaay more colourful – I promise.

// WHAT DO YOU DO TO SWITCH OFF OR CHILL?

Cook, or go for a long run (or the gym). Exercise literally saves me. If I am ever stressed with work, or wake up in a shit mood, exercise is the best drug there is.

// WHAT HAS BEEN ONE OF YOUR BEST CAREER HIGHLIGHTS?

My journey with BeExposed and winning a pitch for MAC Cosmetics

// WHAT DO YOU SEE IN YOUR FUTURE?

Owning my own digital content studio would be the dream! I get such a buzz from collaborating with incredible talent.

I also want to be in control of my work life balance, so I can choose when I work (tbh, that would more than likely be over 60 hours a week, I find it hard to shut off) so I can have a mini me crawling around one day, yet still be able to keep my identity as a creative with no boundaries.

// IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ONE CREATIVE/BRAND WHO WOULD IT BE?

I would love to shoot a campaign video for Fenty Savage or Agent Provocateur. I adore brands who empower women and make them feel like a goddess.

// WHO IS YOUR GREATEST INSPIRATION?

I couldn’t pick just one, there are literally so many!

// YOUR FAVOURITE SONG OF 2021 SO FAR?

No idea if these have been released in 2021, but they are recent additions to my ‘2021 Jamz’ Spotify playlist –

bad tuner – Sourire

and The Internet – Hold On.

// WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO SAY ABOUT YOU AT THE END OF YOUR CAREER?

‘Her work is so sick… ‘

(and she’s super fun to work with)

// WHAT IS THE BIGGEST ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO NEW CREATIVES?

Give 200%, push yourself, shadow the great, listen, network, be nice, be bold, let your ego go, do not shy away, be unforgettable.

Most importantly – never.give.up!

// WHAT’S IMPORTANT TO YOU IN YOUR WORLD RIGHT NOW?

Developing my craft, I have a long long way to go.

Also making sure I make time for my friends and family, work can really consume you especially in a creative world.

// ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO MENTION?

Never compromise on your happiness, yolo.
