Slowthai and Skepta this afternoon have reunited, dropping us new music and a video to accompany. “Cancelled” follows on from their first collaboration back in 2019 with “Inglorious”. Slowthai is on track to release a new album next week, TYRON, and this new beat is featured along with “NHS”, “Feel Away” and “Mazza”. The album is already destined for great things as these releases include big names, like Skepta, James Blake and A$AP ROCKY.
It’s rumoured the British rapper has cleverly named the song “Cancelled” after he was forced to apologise for his behaviour at last year’s NME Awards, which saw the public try to “cancel” him- since he’s spoken openly about the dangers of cancel culture.
The beat begins with Skepta professing how he can’t be cancelled due to his success, with Slowthai coming equally as confident. The video opens with the stars mimicking a Budweiser advert, which has been mocked in Scary Movie. The visuals then continue to replicate famous movie films like American Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
The tune is set for big things, watch the video below.
