PUMA has joined forces with streetwear label STAPLE to bring you a fresh collection of apparel and footwear inspired by Gidra, a groundbreaking Asian-American newspaper founded in 1969 in response to anti-Asian prejudice. The second installment of this collaboration is set to drop at the end of the month, and it’s a must-have for anyone who wants to support the positive creative energy within the Asian American community.
Each piece in the collection is designed to honor Gidra’s art style and references the iconic King Terror Pack from PUMA’s archives. The latest drop includes three sets of sneakers, T-shirts, a hoodie, anorak jackets, and pants. Two PUMA Suedes are featured in yellow as a tribute to King Ghidorah, while another one comes in black and grey and invokes a third Slipstream style in white, grey, and yellow.
In a statement, Jeff Staple expressed his excitement about the collaboration, saying, “Design is a blank canvas to tell the stories that matter the most. Working with PUMA and Mike Murase of Gidra was a unique way to share this influential publication from the 1960s and connect it to the present-day movement to help Stop AAPI Hate. We’re stronger when we stand together.”
This collection is more than just a fashion statement – it’s a symbol of solidarity and support for a community that has been historically underrepresented and marginalized.
Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this movement when the PUMA x Staple collection drops on March 31.
