META CONNECT 2022: THE QUEST PRO UNVEILED

Tuesday saw the launch of Meta’s Quest Pro virtual and mixed reality headgear. It’s being marketed as a collaborative productivity tool for creative professions like designers and architects – a significant step into the metaverse.

The first product in a new high-end line, Meta Quest Pro is brimming with cutting-edge features like high-res sensors for robust mixed reality experiences, crisp LCD displays for sharp visuals, as well as eye tracking and Natural Facial Expressions to help your avatar more accurately represent you in virtual reality.

Quest Pro costs $1,499 (£1,370), which is nearly four times as much as Meta’s current headset, the Quest 2, which has a starting price of $399. It claims slimmer lenses, a curved battery around the back of the head strap, and self-tracking controllers.

During the Connect Live conference, there was a lot of discussion regarding virtual reality apps, some of which have been extremely profitable for their creators. Iron Man and Among Us were two of the new VR games that were released. A relationship with Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming was also announced, and YouTube VR was one of the top downloaded apps on the Quest store.
