Android mobile users are in for a treat. With the new special version of Galaxy Z Flip4, cutting-edge technology and unconventional fashion are combined in Samsung’s first joint venture with Maison Margiela. The luxury French fashion house also add their own spin from the UX design to the accessories.
In the past, Giorgio Armani x Samsung, Prada x LG, Dior Reveries, Moschino, and many others have added their House spin on mobile gadgets from this epochal era. But now, its Maison Margiela’s turn.
The perfect shade of white was “woven” into the smartphone using a drop of grey and Maison Margiela’s distinctive matte solid white colour. The phone also uses Maison Margiela’s décortiqué process, which exposes an object’s core by removing its exterior layers, and it has delicate, translucent lines that represent the phone’s internal circuits.
Turning to the accessories, two recognisable phone covers are featured. First, a distinctive leather cover that embodies the house’s renowned ‘bianchetto’ process, which distils an item’s attractiveness down to its four stitching symbol, representing anonymity. The case has been overpainted to produce a distinctive texture that can change over time, simulating a canvas. The second cover takes a different approach to Maison Margiela’s recognisable number coding ring, representing the DNA of the brand.
According to Samsung, this brand x tech partnership is a perfect collaboration as both brands “believe in breaking with convention and allowing people to celebrate their individuality.”
