Known to Jay-Z fans as “Ace of Spades” for it’s branding on the bottles, the rap star has owned champagne brand, Armand de Brignac, since 2014. It’s become knowledge, however, that he’s now sold 50% of his shares to luxury brand LVMH. Priced at around $300 a pop, it’s not clear how much Jay has sold his stakes for but in his verse on Meek Mill’s track What’s Free he said, “I’m 50 percent of D’Ussé and it’s debt-free / 100 percent of Ace of Spades, worth half a B”.
This isn’t the first investment in champagne that LVMH have. They also oversee several other luxury liquids include Dom Perignon and Krug. Moet Hennessy CEO Phillipe Schaus said the move will lead to increased global opportunity, “What we could bring to the brand, which is already very successful, is the sheer power of our international distribution network”.
