BREAKDANCING IS HEADING TO THE OLYMPICS

The Paris Olympic Games in 2024 is seeing a revamp, as today it was announced breakdancing has been added to the games. Skateboarding, sport climbing, and surfing have also been added to Games and will debut at the delayed Tokyo Games in 2021. The International Olympic Committee confirmed the news today, stating that the activities have been added in attempt to attract a younger audience to the games.

The idea was proposed two years ago after trails at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires and has clearly been a success. Russian Sergei “Bumblebee” Chernyshev won gold in the men’s competition, while Japan’s Ramu “Ram” Kawai came first in the women’s ladder, so keep an eye out for their names. The competition will be referred to as “Breaking” and is set to happen in a downtown venue in Paris, alongside sport climbing and 3v3 basketball.
