The Grammys traditionally are at the start of every year and the 2021 ceremony was due to take place on January 31st. Due to a rise in Covid-19 cases in California, however, they have been postponed till March 14th. Organisers originally said the awards show would go ahead at the Staples Centre as usual, but instead they will now be help at different sites throughout the city with spectators watching virtually. There will also be no audience and nominees are unable to attend unless performing or presenting.
Whilst the Grammys typically sets off award season, it isn’t the first award show having to reschedule due to the pandemic. The Golden Globes has also had to change due to disruptions in the film industry with releases not being on schedule.
But who is leading the talent awards this year? It’ll be no shock that the Queen of Pop, Beyonce, leads with nine nominations, followed by Dua Lipa, Roddy Ricch and Taylor Swift with six each. The news comes the day after the final round of voting ended for the awards, which means although the winners have already been chosen, they’ll have to wait to find out.
